Aviarc Development Suite Reviewed By Butler Group

The Butler Group Audit summarised the Aviarc™ Development Suite in the following manner:

"Butler Group believes that through a combination of platform capabilities and product methodologies that enable relatively low-skilled and fewer resources to quickly and iteratively develop scalable and enterprise policy-compliant Web applications in close collaboration with business users, Aviarc has the right approach at addressing what is almost a universal large company problem, namely proliferation of business user-driven data capture and reporting applications.

Multiple approaches exist at addressing the application proliferation challenge, but they are either focused totally on the developer, or are specific to business user tool(s).

Therefore, in Butler Group’s opinion, Aviarc potentially has the most comprehensive approach to addressing the issue. Enhancements that add to Aviarc’s capabilities, specifically functionality that enables business users to play a stronger role in formulating application logic, and a requirements module that afford a tighter iterative connect between user and developer would make the Aviarc offering a more powerful solution. Also, expansion into other geographic markets and expanding the IT services arm will make the Aviarc approach a compelling solution for a large number of companies.

Overall, in Butler Group opinion, Aviarc currently offers an effective solution to the application proliferation challenge and is likely to grow in scope and capability."

Customer at Centre of Aviarc Solution

Designing and installing a new software solution can be a long, arduous process for customers and vendors. But that wasn’t the case for Massey University’s Centre for Educational Development (CED) when it introduced Core Technology’s web-based Aviarc software.

CED delivers professional development services to teachers throughout Taranaki, Manawatu and Hawke’s Bay. It had been using a combination of MS Access, forms, and manual-intervention to manage the consolidated scheduling, tracking and compliance reporting of the unit’s more than 60 client relationship managers. But changes to Government reporting requirements forced a rethink on MS Access.

CED contracts manager, Debbie Laing, said that the decision was made following a tender, to custom-build a replacement system using the more cost: effective Aviarc option. Other options considered were .Net and PHP.
