Accessibility Statement
This website has been designed to be accessible to as many people as possible. If you have difficulty using our site please let us know and we will do our best to rectify this in future maintenance and development.
- All pages on this site comply with all priority 1, 2, and 3 guidelines of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
- All pages on this site validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional.
- This site is built using structured semantic markup.
H1,H2 and H3tags are used for main titles to aid users of screen reading software such as JAWS. For example, on this page, JAWS users can skip to the nextH3heading within this accessibility statement by pressing alt+insert+3. - To print pages from this site, use the Print function in your browser under File. Printing pages from this site will appear slightly different from what you see on screen. Style sheets instruct the browser to only print the current article and contents and to ignore screen-based items, like navigation and decorative elements.
Navigation Aids
- All pages have been authored to include Link Relationships to aid navigation in text-only browsers such as Lynx and graphical browsers that support this feature.
- This site has been coded to ensure a logical tab order through links and form elements. Keyboard navigation is possible via the Tab Key on your keyboard. Alternatively Opera users can use the A Key to navigate links and the Tab Key to navigate form elements.
- A Skip Navigation link has been provided to allow users of text-only browsers and screen readers to bypass the site navigation to quickly access its content.
- A skip to search link is also at the start of the document to allow users to tab quickly into the search function as well.
- Access Keys have been implemented in the site. Please see below . . .
Visual Design
- Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are used to control visual layout throughout this site.
- This site uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified 'text size' option in visual browsers. To display web page text larger or smaller go to the 'View' menu in your browser, point to Text Size, and then click the size you want (this may differ depending on browser vendor).
- The layout of this site uses relative width - meaning it will adjust to the available size in your browser window. Relative width allows the site to look good on large monitors, while still showing all the content easily on smaller monitors. This site is optimised for a computer monitor / browser window that is 1024 pixels or wider.
- If your browser or browsing device does not support CSS, the content of this site will still be readable and usable.
Access Keys
Access Keys are used in the site to help users jump directly to a resource or function they need. Access keys are triggered by holding down a key combination and then pressing the chosen access key. Access key combinations can change depending on the browser you are using.
For Firefox users the combination is Alt + Shift + (Access Key). Other key combinations are explained well on Wikipedia see: Access Keys
